St. Ansgar District hires interim superintendent

ST. ANSGAR - The St. Ansgar School Board has hired a former superintendent of schools to lead the district on an interim basis.

Jim Woodward, who served the St. Ansgar School District from 1993-99, was offered the contract during a special meeting.

It appears he will start his duties on July 1. No reference was made in the meeting minutes as to how many hours a week Woodward would work. Earlier discussions, however, centered around hiring a part-time superintendent or sharing a superintendent with another district.

Meeting minutes said Woodward would be paid $30,000. Benefits include health insurance, Internet and cell phone usage and a maximum of $750 in medical expense reimbursement. All will be subject to legal requirements such as Iowa licensure and state and federal background checks. Vehicle usage will be discussed at a later date.

Woodward will fill the post held by Dwight Widen for several years. Widen resigned his post earlier this year and took a position with the Corwith-Wesley School District.
