Orion 4th Street Arcade opens in St. Ansgar

Remember the days before X-Boxes, Playstations and Wii?

Back in the '70s and '80s, youngsters had to stick quarters in machines to play their favorite video games such as Donkey Kong, Asteroids and PacMan.

Up in St. Ansgar, the youth of today have a chance to relive that experience, as the new Orion 4th Street Arcade is now open and ready for business.

The new arcade which also currently offers a pool table and a fitness center, is located across the street from St. Ansgar State Bank. It is owned and operated by 1971 St. Ansgar graduate Rick Rosenberg, who returned to his hometown last year after decades of success in other fields, such as engineering and a nationwide limosine service, which he still operates.

In another two or three months, Rosenberg said he will also be opening up a coffee and sandwich shop in his massive building on St. Ansgar's Main Street. Along with that (in another part of the building) will be a tanning salon and video store.

"In a small town like St. Ansgar, you can't just have one small business in order to succeed," said Rosenberg. "What I'm trying to do was utilize all my space in this large building to put in businesses that are 'cousins' to each other."

Rosenberg said he is trying to fill a few voids in St. Ansgar and offer something for everyone. "I'm trying to recreate what worked when I was a kid growing up here," he concluded. "I think that everyone will enjoy what I have to offer."
