Mitchell County celebrates National Ag Week
Next month Mitchell County farmers will begin planting the seeds that will eventually nourish Iowa's livestock and be turned into the products we use on a daily basis, like cleaners, inks, plastic, vitamins, ethanol and wine. During National Agriculture Week (March 14-20) and National Agriculture Day (March 20), Mitchell County Farm Bureau celebrates new life on the farm and farmers' commitment to nurturing that life in a way that benefits all Iowans.

Celebrating ag's horsepower
From a team of horses in the early 1900s to tractors with the power of 40 to 300 horses today, American farmers provide consumers with more and better quality food than ever before. In fact, one farmer now supplies food for about 129 people in the United States and abroad compared with just 25.8 people in 1960.

Pic Million gallon drivers recognized
At the recent annual meeting of K&H Cooperative Oil Company several K&H drivers were honored. Recognized for delivering more than one million gallons in the fiscal year just ended were: Joe Schutter, John Giesman, Brady Koppen, Wade Nall, Craig Richey, and Ron Dohlman. This recognition given by Board Chairman, Reuben Skow included the presentation of a "Million Gallon Jacket" and a bronze plaque listing of their achievement.
